About Bridging the Gap

Consists mainly of Fiddle/flute duets in the old Ballinakill style of East Galway.

Kevin Moloney, the fiddler on the Cd, is from Ballinakill and celebrated his 75th birthday on the day of recording in 1996. His last previous recording was in 1937 with the Ballinakill traditional players hence the title “Bridging the Gap”.

The Cd includes a great fiddle solo of Kevin. Also, I have a free sample of a solo from the CD by Kevin in audio page.

Influences: Paddy Kelly, Jack Mulkere, Paddy Fahy, Paddy Carty, Stephen Moloney, Tommy Whelan, Joe Burke and Eddie Moloney.

About Potsticks

It's a flute album.

Two in every three tracks have no backing, hence very much pure flute.

For real flute enthusiasts or for those interested in learning flute tunes.

Has a homely “in the kitchen” feel to it.

This is a favourite of purists in traditional Irish music.

“Potstick” is a colloquial name for a simple flute .

About Where's me cap

All the music is composed by Seán.

Originally written for a stage production of Tarry Flynn, a novel by Patrick Kavanagh.

Philip Doddy from Sligo plays fiddle and tin whistle, Caroline Locke plays piano and keyboard, Irene Moloney is on bodhrán and mandolin, Shane Moloney plays fiddle and keyboard, while Seán plays fiddle and flutes.

Firmly rooted in the traditional Irish idiom with a 1930’s flavour and with some deviation to a more universal ballroom style for the dance hall scene.
